2024 Hyundai IONIQ 6 update announced for Australia, priced from $65,500

Hyundai Australia is introducing the 2024 model update for the IONIQ 6 fully electric four-door coupe, bringing in heat pump technology, an expanded lineup, and a lower entry price.

An extensive six different variants make up the 2024 range, including a new 53kWh single-motor option. This provides a range of 429km, while providing a modest 111kW motor output. There’s also standard, Dynamiq and Epiq trim levels to choose from, although some are not available with certain powertrains.

All variants now come standard with a heat pump, as well as a battery heating system and battery conditioning system to help improve charging times and optimise range. The heat pump replaces a conventional electric cabin heater system so there is less load on energy usage, thus increasing the potential range.

In other areas, the Dynamiq and Epiq are now available with the single-motor system using a 77.4kWh battery, delivering 168kW to the rear-mounted electric motor. The twin-motor system, producing a combined 239kW, continues to be offered on both as well. The final, sixth choice is the standard trim with the RWD 168kW system.

Other highlights include the option of digital side mirrors for the Epiq (previously standard), following customer demand, and buyers can now option for 20-inch alloy wheels on the RWD 77.4kWh models. Going for the bigger wheels does impact the range though, dropping from 614km on the RWD to 545km.

The IONIQ 6 continues with a comprehensive list of standard features, including twin 12.3-inch digital screens inside, Vehicle-to-Load power, USB-A and USB-C ports and a wireless phone charger, over-the-air software update capability, and multiple drive modes including one-pedal functionality. Speaking about the revised lineup, Hyundai Australia’s CEO, Ted Lee, said:

“The revised and upgraded line-up for 2024 IONIQ 6 enhances the accessibility and value of our reigning World Car of the Year, while bringing our vision for clean mobility ever closer.”
