MG QS 7-seat SUV now on sale in Australia, price from $46,990

MG Motor Australia has opened the order books for its all-new QS SUV and confirmed its starting price. It comes in as the brand’s first 7-seat SUV, ready to compete with the likes of theHyundai Santa Fe and Mazda CX-80.

Unveiled earlier this year at the Melbourne Motor Show, the QS promises strong value and space in the large SUV segment. It’s being introduced in two variant levels; the front-wheel drive Excite and the all-wheel drive Essence.

Both are powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine producing 153kW and 360Nm, paired with a nine-speed auto transmission. Fuel consumption is rated at 8.4L/100km for the FWD and 8.8L/100km for the AWD, according to the WLTP test cycle.

Designed with family practicality in mind, the QS features a versatile seven-seat layout, while both grades come with dual 12.3-inch screens across the dash running Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. There’s also three-zone climate control and power front seats and tailgate. MG Motor Australia’s CEO, Peter Ciao, said:

“It is very exciting for MG to launch our first 7-seat SUV in Australia. People have been asking us when we would be bringing a large SUV to Australia, and it is exciting to confirm the QS is just weeks away.

“For larger families, or multi-generation families, the extra space the QS offers will be loved. Families will be able to load up the QS, fitting more into everyday as they rush to pick up the kids, head to weekend sports and drop friends home.”
