Genesis reveals hardcore G70 Track Day Special concept

Genesis has pulled the covers off a striking new concept dubbed the G70 Track Day Special, making its global debut in Canada ahead of a spring tour across the country. The bespoke creation celebrates the brand’s growing connection with motorsport-inspired engineering, while staying true to Genesis’s reputation for refined design and luxury.

The concept is heavily influenced by the G70 Track Taxi Nordschleife – a track-focused experience vehicle that’s been thrilling passengers at Germany’s Nurburgring. Borrowing much of its DNA from that car, the G70 Track Day Special showcases various enhancements and tuning.

Underneath, it mirrors the setup of its Nurburgring counterpart, with a similarly aggressive suspension tune, as well as matching wheels and sticky Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tyres. Cosmetic upgrades include functional bonnet vents, tow straps at both ends, and a massive rear wing for added downforce. Special ‘Nordschleife’ badging across the body hints at the car’s motorsport roots.

Painted in a vibrant orange and detailed with custom livery, the G70 Track Day Special blends track readiness with road-going aesthetics. Though it remains a one-off showpiece, it could represent a signal of intent from Genesis as it continues to push into more enthusiast-oriented territory with its new Magma sub-brand.

Genesis Motors Canada will tour the concept through its network of retailers throughout the northern spring, allowing fans and prospective customers to check it out and perhaps take in inspiration for possible tuning on their own G70.

In Australia, sales of the mid-size sedan have been pretty slow despite its great packaging and available twin-turbo V6 engine. According to VFACTS new vehicle registration figures for March, Genesis has delivered just 10 examples in the first three months of 2025. That’s slightly behind the Audi A5 (13 units), and the same as the BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe.
