2025 Mercedes-AMG GT 63 PRO debuts at Goodwood Festival

Mercedes-AMG has unveiled the new GT 63 PRO 4MATIC+ at the 2024 Goodwood Festival of Speed. It will enter showrooms as the latest addition to the GT family, boasting improved performance and capability over its predecessor.

The high-performance sports car offers significant upgrades aimed at driving enthusiasts craving exceptional dynamics and race track fun, but with improved comfort for regular driving. Mercedes-AMG says it made updates based on customer feedback, particularly to improve “everyday usability” compared with the previous series.

Inside, the AMG GT 63 PRO maintains a motorsport-inspired aesthetic with AMG Performance seats offering heaps of lateral support, an AMG Performance steering wheel wrapped in Nappa leather and microfibre, and carbon fibre trim elements.

Mercedes says it has revised the cabin to offer a “generous feeling of space and good all-round visibility” over the previous model, and buyers will be able to option for a 2+2 seating layout in some markets. Meanwhile, most functions are operated through the new AMG Operating System 8.5, promising to further enhance the driving experience with its intuitive controls and advanced functions.

Under the bonnet, the GT 63 PRO is powered by a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 developing 450kW, which is up 20kW over the previous model. Torque is also bumped up to 850Nm. Across the typical sprints, the new GT 63 PRO covers 0-100km/h in 3.2 seconds, 0-200km/h in 10.9 seconds, and can hit a top speed of 317 km/h.

Aerodynamics and cooling have been major focuses for the GT 63 PRO. New body components and additional air deflectors reduce lift, while an enhanced cooling system ensures the powertrain remains at optimal temperature, even under intense loads. The model now features radiators in the front wheel arches and actively-cooled differentials, contributing to better heat dissipation and consistent performance on the track.

The exterior styling is sharper and more aggressive, featuring a redesigned front apron with carbon fibre air deflectors, an active aerodynamic profile in the underbody, and a fixed rear wing. These elements work together to enhance downforce and reduce front axle lift, resulting in more precise steering and improved overall handling.

On the braking front, the GT 63 PRO is equipped with a ceramic composite system, including 420mm front discs. These are the largest ever available from Mercedes-AMG, providing greater durability and resistance to fading than before. Combined with lightweight 21-inch forged wheels and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2R tyres, this thing is sure to rearrange your internal organs.

The Mercedes-AMG GT 63 PRO 4MATIC+ is set to arrive in Australia late this year or early in 2025, although official timing and prices are yet to be confirmed.
