2024 Skoda Fabia Select on sale in Australia, new entry grade

More value-focused 'Select' variants for other models to follow

If you’re in the market for a practical and smart new city car, you might be interested to hear Skoda Australia has just announced the 2024 Fabia Select five-door hatchback.

This comes in as the new entry-level variant, packed with features and practical-minded initiatives. Skoda says the Select variant is the “smart selection” for customers looking for maximum interior space.

For example, the boot in the 2024 Skoda Fabia presents an impressive 380L. That’s more than some hatchbacks that sit in the size above this. Interior packaging is also noteworthy, with things like twin USB-B ports as standard.

On the dash is an 8.25-inch touch-screen multimedia system, offering wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, while the driver views an 8.0-inch digital instrument cluster. Keyless entry and start, auto headlights and wipers, height-adjustable front seats, and a leather-wrapped steering also come standard.

It doesn’t skimp on safety, either. The Fabia Select comes with autonomous emergency braking with cyclist and pedestrian detection, lane-keeping aids and rear cross-traffic alert, cruise control, and LED headlights and taillights.

Power comes from a 1.0-litre turbo three-cylinder engine producing 85kW and 200Nm, fed through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. A Fabia Monte Carlo variant will join the range as well, featuring a 110kW/250Nm 1.5-litre turbo with the dual-clutch transmission.

Skoda Australia is offering the 2024 Fabia Select priced from $31,990 drive-away. It arrives in showrooms in August, with details of the Monte Carlo to be announced soon. Skoda will launch more value-focused ‘Select’ variants of other models in the near future as well.

So far this year (through April), Skoda Australia has delivered 145 examples of the Fabia to new customers. That’s up 2.8 per cent on the same four-month period last year, according to VFACTS figures. It is the third best-selling model in the ‘Light above $30k’ class, behind the MINI Cooper (607 units) and platform-sharing Volkswagen Polo (571).
