2025 RAM 2500 & 3500 now on sale in Australia, boosted to 1458Nm

Need pulling power? RAM Trucks Australia has just announced the new RAM 2500 and 3500 Heavy Duty series for 2025, which bring in an updated design and tech, and a revised 6.7-litre Cummins turbo-diesel inline-six engine.

The MY25 2500 HD introduces a heavily-revised 6.7-litre Cummins turbo-diesel that now produces 313kW and a whopping 1458Nm – the highest torque figure in its class. That’s 13 per cent more power and 26 per cent more torque than before, and it’s paired to a fresh eight-speed ZF TorqueFlite automatic transmission for improved acceleration and fuel efficiency. Ram says 0–100km/h is achieved in around 7.2 seconds, or about a full second quicker than the outgoing model.

Beneath the surface, the Cummins engine features a redesigned block and head, heavy-duty pistons, and an upgraded turbocharger, all contributing to stronger performance and reduced noise and vibration.

Towing capacity remains one of the vehicle’s main drawcards, with ratings up to 8000kg via a gooseneck and air brakes or fifth-wheel setup, and a gross combination mass of 12,750kg, or up to 14,433kg for the 3500kg. However, a truck licence is needed to drive this on public roads.

Inside, the 2500 HD gains a new five-seat configuration that trades the old front bench for more spacious individual seats and a large multi-level centre console. It also scores a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, dual wireless phone charging, and a nine-speaker Alpine audio system.

Heated and ventilated front seats with power adjustment are standard, along with a suite of safety upgrades such as enhanced lane-keeping assist, driver fatigue monitoring, and updated autonomous emergency braking that now detects pedestrians and cyclists.

Externally, the popular Black Pack styling kit is now standard, combining dark trim elements and badges with a new ‘Sport Hood’ power bulge bonnet. A spray-in tub-liner comes as standard in Australia, as well as the fold-out rear corner step, side steps, power-extending side mirrors, and a surround-view camera system.

The new model is on sale now with prices starting from the following (excluding on-roads). Interestingly, these are the same prices as the outgoing models, despite increased features and power and torque. Review coming November 6.
