MG’s Australian range will be boosted by the flagship ‘IM Presented by MG Motor’ range, with drive-away prices announced today for the electric IM5 sedan and IM6 SUV.
Starting from $60,990, the IM5 Premium and IM6 Premium are equipped with a 75kWh lithium-iron phosphate (LFP) battery. A 100kWh Nickel Manganese Cobalt (NMC) battery is available in the $69,990 IM5 Platinum and IM6 Platinum RWD, as well as the AWD Performance variants of both models – which list for $80,990 drive-away.

The Premium versions feature a 400V IGBT architecture, producing 217kW and offering 490km of WLTP range. They can also facilitate up to 153kW of DC charging.
The RWD Platinum and Performance models, meanwhile, up the ante with a 800V ‘SiC Platform’ and a maximum charge rate of 396kW, with staggered 20-inch wheels with 245/40 front and 275/35 rear tyres. Performance and range for the Platinum and Performance are 655km WLTP, 0-100km/h in 4.9 seconds and 575km WLTP and 3.2 seconds, respectively.

No word yet on the 130kW ‘Lightyear’ semi solid-state battery, but that should be released in China some time this year, if not next.
An extensive array of new technology for these vehicles showcases some AI-driven tech, such as ‘Rainy Night’ mode that provides a camera feed on the enormous 26.3-inch infotainment display.
Four-wheel steering and automated parking with multiple modes should make for a very technologically advanced EV. MG Australia’s CEO, Peter Ciao, offered the following statement:
“The IM5 and IM6 will deliver the most innovative, AI inspired, cutting-edge features, and high performance, blended seamlessly with premium design and interior finishes. We welcome prospective owners to place their reservation for the next generation of electric mobility from today.”
Featuring a seven-year, unlimited km all inclusive warranty, the IM5 and IM6 are ready to order now with deliveries expected to commence next month.
