2025 GWM Cannon ute update adds cab-chassis variants

GWM is broadening its Cannon ute range in Australia for 2025 with the addition of new cab-chassis variants aimed at offering greater versatility and improved value for both commercial and private buyers.

Following the recent arrival of the more powerful 2.4-litre model, the updated lineup now includes an entry-grade trim called the Premium, available with the familiar 2.0-litre turbo-diesel engine produces 120kW and 400Nm. Buyers will be able to choose between a 4×2 single cab-chassis with a tray or a 4×4 dual-cab layout, with both configurations focused on affordability.

Towing capacity remains at 3200kg (braked), while fuel economy has been re-certified with figures as low as 7.6L/100km for the single-cab and 8.1L/100km for the dual-cab.

Also joining the 2025 Cannon range is a 4×4 dual-cab-chassis variant in mid-spec Lux trim, powered by the larger 2.4-litre turbo-diesel engine, developing 135kW and 480Nm. This is the first time the 2.4L unit is being offered in this body style.

For trade and fleet customers, the single-cab-chassis benefits from a 240mm longer wheelbase than the standard dual-cab, helping improve payload distribution. It also offers a strong 1150kg payload capacity, making it well-suited for commercial use.

All new Cannon variants are covered by the brand’s GWM Care program, which includes a 7-year/unlimited kilometre warranty, five years of roadside assistance, and five years of capped price servicing. Steve Maciver, GWM’s head of marketing and communications, said:

“These additions further strengthen the Cannon’s appeal by offering greater flexibility for commercial, fleet, and private buyers seeking a robust and adaptable workhorse, whilst ensuring GWM’s strong value position remains.”

The new models are on sale now, with prices starting from $35,490 drive-away for the entry single-cab. See below for the full price list:
