11th-gen Honda Accord confirmed for Australia, arrives Q2 2024

Honda has confirmed the all-new, 11th-generation Accord sedan will be heading to Australia this year. It’ll debut all-new tech and styling for the nameplate.

The new model will arrive as a single variant called the RS, featuring an e:HEV hybrid powertrain. It consists of a 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol paired with twin electric motors, developing 152kW in overseas form. Local specs haven’t been outlined yet.

On the outside, the 2024 Accord showcases a low and wide stance, which is actually longer overall compared with the outgoing model. According to overseas specs, the new model is 66m longer but with the same length wheelbase. The new model is also 277m narrower, and stands at the same 1450mm height.

Being the RS trim means we’ll get some sporty black exterior highlights, as seen on overseas models (pictured). Think along the lines of a lip spoiler at the back, skirting around the bottom, tinted taillights, and a black front grille area.

Taking a look inside, the 2024 Accord features Honda’s latest full-width vent treatment, with most controls housed within a 12.3-inch touch-screen interface. It runs Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, along with built-in Google services – a first for Honda in Australia.

There’s also a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster, a sporty three-spoke steering wheel, and a new “Experience Selection Dial” on the dash which can control the media screen and offer customisable operation.

Honda Australia first introduced the Accord way back in 1977. However, in recent years, sales have been declining as market trends shift to SUVs and utes.

During 2023, Honda sold just 144 examples of the Accord in Australia, according to VFACTS figures, which is a far cry short of its rival, Toyota Camry, which managed 10,581 sales. Honda Australia director Carolyn McMahon said:

“This new model offers the premium feel that Accord is renowned for, coupled with all the additional technological advances that customers are becoming accustomed to, including Honda’s e:HEV hybrid powertrain that delivers a dynamic combination of performance and efficiency.”

The new model is scheduled to arrive here in the second quarter of 2024. Prices are yet to be confirmed.
