The Japan Mobility Show is shaping up to be one of the most exciting and poignant events on the 2025 automotive calendar.
A radical concept set for the show bearing the Corolla name appears to preview the 13th-generation sedan, with a futuristic LED front, flush door handles and a ‘floating’ roof. Large wheels and crisp bodyside sculpting make this a very bold and un-Corolla-like concept.
Proportionally, it looks very sporting, with the thin and rakish A- and C-pillars, a hunkered-down stance and a striking rear LED matrix adorning the boot lid with a ducktail spoiler and Corolla script. Aerodynamics appear to play a big part, with air channels at the base of the windscreen and rear.
Details are scant for now, but it appears to be a statement of intent for the styling direction of the next-gen model and perhaps Toyota’s future design language. It also appears to be fully electric.
We very much doubt Toyota would ditch the internal combustion Corolla given how crucial it is to the Japanese giant’s bottom line, but if it borrows its styling from this concept, it will be a radical departure from today’s car.
What we can say is the next Corolla, due in around 2027, should be one of the first recipients of Toyota’s new family of engines.
