First Maserati MCXtrema set for Australia, 1 of 62 being made

Maserati has delivered the first MCXtrema destined for Australia, with a local customer taking handover of the track-only supercar at the brand’s Modena headquarters in Italy.

Limited to just 62 units worldwide, the MCXtrema represents the most extreme interpretation of the MC20 platform to date and is the most powerful track car Maserati has ever produced. This is the first example allocated to an Australian buyer.

Power comes from an upgraded version of Maserati’s 3.0-litre twin-turbo ‘Nettuno’ V6, producing 540kW – a decent step up from the already potent 463kW MC20/MCPura road car. The engine incorporates technology derived from Formula One, while the chassis has been reworked with direct involvement from Maserati’s chief test driver and former GT racing champion Andrea Bertolini.

Unveiled initially as a concept at Monterey Car Week in 2023, the MCXtrema moved quickly from concept to reality, with the first global customer taking delivery at Laguna Seca in the US in August 2024. Since then, only a small number of cars have reached customers in select markets, further underlining the model’s rarity.

The Australian-delivered example features a bespoke specification chosen by its owner (as per all 62), with a blue-and-white livery that draws heavily on Maserati’s motorsport history, called Blu Nobile and Bianco Audace Matte. The car also carries a prominent Trident graphic across the bonnet, referencing past competition models such as the MC12.

Maserati Australia and New Zealand general manager Grant Barling said the delivery reflects the strength of enthusiasm for the brand locally, particularly among collectors and track-focused customers. He said:

“We are so proud to see the passion for Maserati in Australia. The Maserati MCXtrema signals another significant milestone when it arrives in Australia in 2026 – the year we celebrate 100 years of Maserati in racing. Next year will mark 100 years since Alfieri Maserati achieved class victory in the 1926 Targa Florio in Italy, driving the Maserati Tipo 26, the first car built by Maserati.”

The price of the exclusive model is unknown, but given the regular MCPura starts from $450,000, we’re going to suggest this would be closer to the two-million-dollar mark.
