2026 Toyota HiLux price & specs confirmed, arrives December

Following the full reveal this week, Toyota Australia has now lifted the lid on price and specs for the 2026 HiLux, which goes on sale on December 9.

The new model ushers in a fresh look inside and out, along with a sharper focus on comfort and connectivity. Developed with strong input from Toyota Australia, the new new model also introduces upgraded safety systems, new convenience features, and mechanical refinements aimed at improving everyday usability and off-road performance.

For now, all variants are powered by Toyota’s 2.8-litre turbo-diesel four-cylinder engine, paired with either a six-speed manual or automatic transmission depending on grade. Select 4×4 automatic models also feature the V-Active 48-volt mild-hybrid system, with power set to remain unchanged for all 2.8L models at 150kW and 500Nm.

The new range is divided into five familiar grades; WorkMate, SR, SR5, Rogue, and the Rugged X is coming back. Even the entry-level WorkMate benefits from a 12.3-inch touch-screen and wireless smartphone mirroring, digital radio, satellite navigation, and Toyota Connected Services with lifetime emergency communication functions.

The mid-range SR builds on that with alloy wheels, LED fog lamps, smart entry and start, an eight-speaker audio system, wireless charging, and added safety technology such as a surround-view monitor and tyre pressure sensors.

The SR5 introduces a new comfort-oriented suspension tune aimed at improving ride quality, while adding luxury features like heated front seats, dual-zone climate control, and larger disc brakes. Buyers can also specify a Premium Interior Package with leather-accented trim, powered driver’s seat, and JBL audio system.

At the top of the lineup sits the Rogue and newly returned Rugged X. Both are based on the SR5 platform but bring distinct identities; the Rogue leaning toward premium refinement with its electric roller tonneau cover and marine-grade bedliner, while the Rugged X goes for more of an off-road theme with genuine recovery points, LED light bar, bullbar, and heavy-duty protection plates.
