Ford Ranger Super Duty ‘XLT’ variant added, arrives mid-2026

Ford Australia is expanding the reach of its new heavy-duty contender, confirming a new pickup body style and a more upmarket XLT specification for the MY26.5 Ranger Super Duty. The additions are set to arrive in mid-2026 and are designed for those wanting serious towing ability paired with long-distance touring comfort.

The headline figures remain unchanged, and they’re the reason the Super Duty name has garnered so much attention since its reveal; 4500kg braked towing capacity, 4500kg gross vehicle mass (GVM) and 8000kg gross combination mass (GCM). Massive figures.

Ford says the new pickup version delivers that same capability with the added practicality of a factory tub, opening the door to customers who need the muscle of a cab-chassis but prefer the convenience of a conventional ute.

Under the bonnet sits the familiar 3.0-litre turbo-diesel V6, producing 154kW and 600Nm, backed by a 10-speed automatic with four-wheel drive. There’s also a heavy-duty chassis underneath, 850mm water wading depth, around 300mm ground clearance (depending on variant), and a wider 1710mm track.

The new XLT grade joins the lineup aimed squarely at buyers wanting more comfort than the existing work-focused grade. It brings 18-inch alloy wheels, leather-accented seating with heating and ventilation up front, matching trim in the rear, and carpet flooring instead of the hard-wearing vinyl found in the regular Super Duty.

Ford is also rolling out a number of new factory options to broaden the pickup’s flexibility. These include a digital rear-view mirror, an Aeroklas drawer system for the tub, and a selection of canopy options with different access configurations. A new Traction Green paint finish option has also been added to the range.
