It’s one of the biggest stresses we’ve all been facing lately; should you go for the new Extended Wheel Base (EWB) Bentley Bentayga and potentially sacrifice some performance, or stick with the regular (standard, SWB) wheelbase model but put up with the ‘regular’ rear seat space?
Well, that’s what we’re here to find out. We’ve put together another one of our ‘virtual’ drag race videos for you so you can see the acceleration and speed difference between the two models.
Specifically, we’re pitching the 2023 Bentayga Azure up against the Bentayga Azure EWB. Both feature a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 that bellows out 404kW of power and a monstrous 770Nm of torque.
However, where things differ a bit is with weight. The regular ‘SWB’ version tips in at 2355kg tare, while the EWB weighs 2438kg tare. On top of that, the EWB example on test features the Airline Seat option which likely adds a bit more weight to the mix.
As you could imagine, the power-to-weight ratio is in favour of the SWB model. But by how much does this impact performance? Well, Bentley claims 0-100km/h in 4.4 seconds in the SWB and 4.5 seconds in the EWB.
Using a private road and our Racelogic Vbox, we ran some tests to see what’s what. Interestingly, both vehicles smashed their official 0-100km/h claims by quite a bit. Check it out below.
We’ll have our full written reviews of both models up on the website soon, with separate videos on each to come as well. Stay tuned.
