Polestar will unveil its stunning new Polestar 4 at the 2023 Auto Shanghai motor show later this month. It will come in as a four-door coupe SUV, sitting along side the Polestar 3.
Not only will the new model jump on board the coupe SUV bandwagon, and likely showcase some fresh styling elements not before seen on a Polestar model, the 4 will be the company’s “fastest Polestar production car” it has ever made.
Just this single teaser image above has been revealed so far showing a top view of the front corner and headlight design. From this angle it looks quite similar to the Polestar 3 large SUV. However, Polestar says “design cues and sustainability enhancements” that were initially shown in its concept cars will make their production debut in the 4.
Taking the Polestar 3 as a guide (pictured above), it is offered with a 111kWh battery pack that offers a range of 610km. This sends power to an electric motor at the front and rear axle, combining to generate a hard-hitting 360kW and 840Nm. An optional Performance Pack takes those figures up to 380kW and 910Nm. A target 0-100km/h time has been set for 4.7 seconds with the upgrade pack.
Seen as though Polestar claims the 4 will be even faster, and since the top Polestar 2 with the Performance Pack already offers a claimed 0-100km/h time of 4.7 seconds, and the Polestar 1 does it in a claimed 4.2 seconds, we suspect this new 4 will dip into the 3s. Thomas Ingenlath, Polestar CEO, said:
“Polestar 4 is not simply a modified version of our first SUV. Instead, we reconsidered the entire design to create a new breed of SUV coupe.”
The 2023 Auto Shanghai motor show unveiling will take place on April 18. As a guide, the Polestar 3 goes on sale in Australia priced from $132,900, and is due to arrive during the first quarter of 2024.
