2500hp Lamborghini Huracan breaks 1/2 mile world record (video)

The crown for fastest half-mile speed has been taken by a highly-modified Lamborghini Huracan. Filmed by 1320video, the distance of half a mile is twice the amount in feet of the quarter mile length with which the eponymous YouTube channel shares its name.

Underground Racing is famous for turning exotic cars up to a whole new level with intricate turbocharging kits. They have famously created superbly fitted, amazingly tuned and aesthetically pleasing twin-turbo kits for Lamborghini Aventador, Murcielago and Gallardo, Ferrari 458 Italia and the Audi R8 – which is the Huracan and Gallardo’s twin-under-the-skin.

That the Huracan in question needs only 804 metres to reach its record-breaking 413.6km/h (256.99 mph) tells a story of truly insane acceleration. The best effort of the day by the Huracan was 417.9km/h over the half-mile track. It’s said the car produces around 2500hp at the wheels (1865kW), which is pretty freaking insane for a street-legal car.

Previous records by Underground Racing include 250mph (402km/h) over the half-mile in a twin-turbo Gallardo, and this Huracan, with a less-evolved tune, also took out the top prize at the TX2K17 Roll Race Nationals. Check out the video below for more.
