What’s quicker, a Bugatti Chiron or a Volkswagen Golf MKIV? Easy answer, right? Not necessarily, as this video demonstrates. Obviously the Golf is modified. A lot.
In the French corner the Chiron is powered by an 8.0-litre a quad-turbo W16 that develops 1500hp, or 1104kW. The beast is able to cover 0-100km/h in a claimed 2.4 seconds, and 0-200km/h in 6.1 seconds. The top speed is yet to be verified but it’s expected to top the current record-holding Bugatti Veyron Super Sport and its 431km/h achievement.
Over in the German corner is a humble VW Golf. However, instead of being powered by a mundane four-cylinder engine, this project car has had a 5.0-litre V10 conversion from an Audi RS 6. It’s had two turbochargers strapped on, and produces something like 933kW (1250hp).
